If you’ve ever graced these online confines, you’ll notice a few changes to the site. I am making several updates and additions, and the work in progress will be live on display.
- The design theme will basically remain the same, with a few tweaks. I like the clean look of WordPress’s “Pilcrow” theme, and will look to maintain some aesthetic consistency to the site even as it evolves.
- I’ve added a new section to the site, with the working title “Finance & Investing.” This is where I’ll delve into topics like the stock market and investment strategies and tactics (for educational purposes). It will also feature stories from the site’s main page relating to money and economics.
- The navigation menu is being customized and condensed. I think it will be a clearer, quicker guide to the new site.
- Connectivity functions are being expanded, including an easier way to sign up for email updates, and a new Twitter feed by yours truly. (I know, welcome to the 21st Century, right?)
- All links are being reviewed for relevance and freshness. New links in almost all likelihood will be added – so if you have nominations, please feel free to email me or post them as a comment!
I look forward to expanding the site’s reach and usability along with its quantity and quality of content. Stay tuned.
for Principally Political today. Have re-organized (and removed many of) the links, have added to or updated all the site pages. Hope to return to regular posting very soon….
Just wanted to post a note to everybody to say hello from the Sunshine State. I’m visiting family on the state’s east coast, and having a great time. As part of my visit, I’m teaching several classes at a local non-profit organization on the topics of American history, government and citizenship. I may post more on that later, but suffice it to say that it’s been a good experience and a lot of fun. Probably won’t be on the blog much until a week from tomorrow.
and well. This weekend I went to LA to see my sister get married. Then, a couple stacked days of school. I miss blogging daily. Need to get back to it. Here’s a preview of my next post, to publish later tonight:
I’ve lost 40 pounds in 4 months. How did I do it? Diet and exercise, naturally. A lot of people complimented my new appearance and some asked how I accomplished my goals. I’ve sketched out on paper a few very basic guidelines and practical bits of wisdom that enabled me to shed the weight and start looking and feeling better. If you don’t have any problems in this area of life, you may still find some of what I’ll share to be interesting. For those who would like to slim down a bit, then hopefully this post may be of some service.
P.S. Oh yeah, and I’ll try to post some “before and after” pics!
Principally Political goes personal, with an update:
Firstly, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all friends and family who may be reading this. I look forward to connecting with you in person or over the phone in the coming next few days!
Secondly, I’m excited to be headed to Los Angeles, California! First and foremost I am eager to see my sister and her fiance, and secondly I can’t wait to enjoy the warm weather and take in some ocean side views.
Thirdly, I want to reflect for a moment on friendship and human connection. I’ve been fortunate to have had several rich conversations with friends over the last 36 hours. This includes a good friend whom I will not see for a while, as he is returning to his home country after studying in the United States. On another of these occasions I had the privilege of catching up and talking politics with an old friend, for a delightful three hours. It’s good to savor these moments, and I was especially grateful for them at this time of year.
Finally, upon celebration of the one year birthday of this site, I will let you on that I will be making an announcement concerning my future and the future of this site sometime on or before New Year’s Day, 2010. It entails enduring commitments and new horizons, simultaneously. And that’s all I’ll say for the moment.
P.S. Yes, I will be blogging while on vacation! Check in early and often!
On a personal note, this week is finals at the University of Missouri-Columbia, which is why I’ve been a little behind on posting in recent days and really the last two weeks or so. As many of you know, I returned to school recently to complete a degree in political science. I’ll graduate this May, something I am really looking forward to.
This semester has been great – I’ve learned a lot, and it’s gone by fast. I have one more exam on Wednesday (“Congress and Legislative Policy”), then I should be back on a fairly normal routine after that. Thanks for your continued readership.
ALSO – I want to note for the record that the last post – on Obama’s slide in the polls – is the 400th posting for Principally Political. A nice little milestone if I do say so myself….Friday will be the official One Year Anniversary of the site, and I hope to offer some thoughts on what I’ve learned, and what’s in store for the next year of Principally Political. It’s been a blast and I’m eager to continue to learn, grow and have fun in the process.
Principally Political continues to hit new highs in reader traffic. This week was the best ever in terms of unique daily visitors (just shy of 500), and this month is on track to be the best ever – surpassing July’s previous high.
Now, we’re still very small potatoes here and I’m not fooling myself into thinking anything differently. Nonetheless, it is gratifying to see my work yielding dividends in terms of steadily increasing readership.
I’ve learned a lot and still have only barely scratched the surface of this whole blogging thing. There will be a lot to cover in the months ahead and a lot of new ways of doing so to explore at the same time. THANK YOU for your support.
