Who vetted the vetters?

The Politico, via Drudge, reports that Obama‘s nominee to lead the National Intelligence Council, Chas Freeman,  has resigned from consideration. This is the latest in what is becoming a long list of such disappointments for the administration.

This brings up a question: Who exactly is vetting these nominations? And just how well were those people vetted?

The nomination failures have cost President Obama political prestige – and perhaps political capitol. Will we see heads start to roll at the White House?
